Quotes from my focus experts
Virginia Buysse, PhD
“We conclude by noting that it is not sufficient to determine a practice is research-based. Every practitioner must consider whether a practice is appropriate for a particular child or family within a specific local context.” (Buysse, et. al, 2012 p. 28)

Brenda,
ReplyDeleteI love all of the quotes you picked for your blog! I could hang them all up on my wall:) What I like about Janet Gonzalez-Mena's quote is there are many adults in the world that would learn a great deal more if they would also just follow instead of trying to lead all the time. One not only discovers the joy in a young child's world, but the world in general. We can always learn something from each other and there is not a better way to do it.
Magda Gerber's is an awesome quote for everyone to remember as well! I know several politicians that would benefit from reading it. I think this is a quote teachers do need hanging in their classrooms since there is such a push to make sure everyone is reading, writing, & counting ASAP. There are so many great messages hidden in that little quote! The reminder childhood is a small window of time. Children need to develop at their own pace in that small window of time and what is right for one child is not right for another. And finally, pushing these ideas earlier is not better. What are we doing to our children by pushing so much at them so hard at such a young age? Are we letting them even be children or sharing with them the love of learning? I personally do not think so and that makes me sad.
