I would like to engage in the Iowa Early Childhood Mental Health Alliance. I started by attending some trainings offered by them with Dr. David Daniels exploring the nine energy types in the enneagram model. I am hoping to join this association and become more involved. I truly believe our survival as a society is going to be achieved through ensuring our infants and toddlers are being given intentional thoughtful care.
I would also like to become more involved in the Program for Infant Toddler Caregivers first by completing their training through West Ed. This curriculum is one of the best out there and is based on solid research. I would like to create an infant toddler network in our state. A community of practice around infant and toddler issues.
I have this vision of creating a trainers network in Iowa, we need some organized support to develop our skills as trainers. We serve nearly 16,000 child care workers annually by delivering trainings and I think we could be stronger and more effective if we had a cohesive way of improving our practices.
Jobs that are interesting to me:
Adjunct online instructor is one idea as I have elected to gain my Masters level coursework in ECE and specializing in Adult learners. My only problem is I never got my teaching license because I did not desire to teach children in the public schools. I chose instead to pursue my Masters, so I am unsure whether this will limit my ability pursuing this opportunity. My husband works from home and I would like to be able to do the same. This would enable us to work from anywhere in the world.
Skills needed: communication skills in writing, reading and comprehension. Ability to pose provocative questions that will inspire more complex thinking, accurate record keeping, ability to work with diverse learners and personalities.
